A low carbon development at Rainbow Way, Minehead, has received a Somerset Love Your Countryside Award in the Housing Solution category, from the Campaign to Protect Rural England.
The development, which comprises 54 eco-friendly homes off Seaward Way, was identified by the former Somerset West and Taunton Council and progressed to completion by Somerset Council and Homes in Somerset, the Council’s housing development delivery partner.
Judges were particularly impressed with the high environmental standards of the build and the fact that they clearly fulfil a local need.
Katie Furner, Development Project Manager at Homes in Somerset, said: “On behalf of Somerset Council, Homes in Somerset is delighted to receive this award and the recognition that this low carbon affordable housing scheme deserves. This development reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering high quality, sustainable homes that not only reduce environmental impact but also genuinely meet the needs of Somerset residents – providing safe, warm, and affordable places to live both now and in the future.”
The award ceremony, taking place on Thursday, June 11, will be hosted by the High Sheriff of Somerset, Peter Dixon.
