Closure order secured to resolve anti-social behaviour

A three-month closure order has been successfully secured for a Homes in Somerset property on Fairfax Road, Bridgwater, following numerous reports from the community of drug-related activity, violence and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Homes in Somerset Housing Team worked with residents and supported Avon and Somerset Police, who obtained the order.

The closure order prohibits all individuals from entering the property. Any breach of this order will be considered an offence, and violators may face arrest.

Sarah Mees, Housing Manager at Homes in Somerset, said she was relieved and grateful for the community’s cooperation. She said: “We are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents and the community. The closure of this property is a significant step towards restoring peace and safety in the neighbourhood and demonstrates how working together can reduce anti-social behaviour. We understand the profound impact that persistent anti-social behaviour can have on residents, and we are committed to taking necessary actions to address such issues.

“We are incredibly grateful for the patience, resilience and courage of the community in reporting these issues.  It can take a significant amount of time to investigate and gather information to enable us and other agencies to take such action.  The evidence and information they provide is a key part of this.”

Homes in Somerset encourages anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour to report it promptly. Your reports help us identify local issues and take appropriate actions to ensure a safe and peaceful living environment for all.
