New Development Committee Formed

Homes in Somerset has a new Development Committee, to ensure our customers have healthy homes, fit for the future.

Developing Communities

The scope of the Committee responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, new housing developments, regeneration projects, property acquisitions and disposals.

Development Committee objectives:

1. To ensure that all development activities align with the strategic goals and objectives of Homes in Somerset and Somerset Council.

2. To deliver the requirements contained within the Service Level Agreement between Homes in Somerset and Somerset Council.

3. To monitor and review the progress of development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

4. To evaluate and approve key development proposals and business cases in accordance with an approved programme, and within the constraints defined in the Service Level Agreement and Scheme of Delegation, before submission to the council for review and for approval.

5. To assess the risks associated with development projects and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.

6. To oversee the financial performance of development activities, including cost control and financial viability assessments.

7. To ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in development and construction.

8. To promote sustainability and the effective use of resources in all development activities.
