One Small Thing – HiS launches campaign to reduce fuel poverty

This week we launched our One Small Thing campaign, which encourages Homes in Somerset tenants and staff to join forces in helping change behaviour to reduce fuel poverty, save energy, and protect the environment.

We’re encouraging each of you to pledge to do One Small Thing – from turning lights off and saving water, to thinking ahead to plan for winter fuel costs.

We want to show that by making small behaviour changes, we can help each other save money and make our futures even brighter.

Kicking off the campaign, we joined forces with the Centre for Sustainable Energy, a Bristol-based charity who offer energy advice and support, as Deb Geraghty and Aoife McDonnell delivered a workshop to our Service Improvement Panel tenants, and members of staff.

They shared insights on how much energy everyday appliances use, why it’s worth switching your energy tariff or provider each year, and how small actions such as shutting doors, preventing drafts, and having quick showers can all save you money, and everyone took away at least one small thing that they would do differently.
